Facebook will show off a new look for the much used, News feed today. So how will one of Facebook's key feature change?
Well here's a look at what to expect.
Content Specific News Feeds : According to TechCrunch's Josh Constine, These include a Photos feed of Facebook and Instagram photos, as well as a revamped Music feed of what friends are listening to, concerts, and new albums, according to multiple sources both within and close to Facebook. Larger images and image-based ads in the web and mobile feeds are coming too.
Does this make sense? Well yes. It does mean that you can now choose to concentrate on the kind of content that you are most interested in, instead of being bombarded with content from apps, or random status messages from friends who are not that close to you.
The bad part is this is going to be confusing as hell and once again it will take time to figure out the privacy settings for this.
Video ads: Video ads might be heading your way in the News Feed. In December 2012,Ad Agehad reported that,Facebook is set to unveil a new video-ad product in the first half of next year in its largest attempt to date to attract big swaths of ad dollars from TV advertisers, according to several industry executives who have been briefed on the company's plans over the past few weeks.
The report also stated that the ads should be out by April and will probably be only about 15 seconds in duration. In the Q4 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg had said, "Mobile ads have done well. Ads in newsfeed barely affected level of engagement in Facebook. There's a big opportunity for us here." Video is the future and Facebook is not going to pass that up. Zuckerberg clearly hasn't forgotten all the flak he got for not introducing mobile ads earlier.
A revamped Timeline: There have been persistent rumours that Facebook will revamp the Timeline to showcase likes, Photos etc more prominently. In fact, according toRead Write Web,the new design has been spotted in New Zealand and tends to put more focus on the column with your photos, links linked etc.
Will Facebook show this off today? That remains to be be seen. We will be live-blogging Facebook's event so do follow us on that.
