We use it everyday, but I can bet that most of us don't even know a fraction of what our favorite search engine is capable of.....
Shortcuts:
1. Search only for a specific phrase:
example: '' Tech Chronicle'' (Discards similar search terms and only displays exact matches)
2. Exclude search terms:
Example: Highest paying degrees-engineering
( shows results but discards all results that mention engineering)
3. Find similar words:
Example:Writer
(This will also search for the words with similar meaning like 'author' or 'novelist')
4. Define words
example: Define Ornithology:
(Google provides a brief description of what the term means)
5. Search a single website:
example: Android site apple.com
( This will look for Android related pages only in apple.com)
6. Google as a calculator:
Example: 465*324/sqrt(2)
( Google search has a built in scientific calculator to evaluate expressions such as the one above)
7.Using Google as a free web proxy:
Example: cache: www.blockedsite.org
(using Google caches, you can effictively access sites that have been blocked by university or office servers)
